I have been in private practice for almost 21 years now and before that I worked for several mental health centers in various capacities. I hold a Masters in Social Work and am currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Washington.  Since I was a Corpsman in the Navy, I have worked in and loved the medical field. I have worked on medical units, emergency rooms, and clinics. In 1976 I got an opportunity to work on a psychiatric unit, which fit right in, to my plans.  This job led me to graduate school in Social Work and really made it possible to step into my role as a counselor and therapist.

I am passionate about the change process and my great pleasure is helping adolescents and parents as well as couples, families, stepfamilies and children of all ages make the changes they really want.  I believe each of my clients deserves a specialized approach unique to their individual needs. Therapy is a process whereby we co-create a treatment approach that is just right for you. I am not locked into any particular treatment modality, but rather, I am skilled in a variety of therapeutic methods.

Some of my specialized training includes working with adolescents, blended and step families, Play Therapy for children, Interactive Guided Imagery, Energy Psychology, and Gottman approaches for couples.  Including my time in private practice, I have been a psychotherapist for 33 years.

When I am not sitting down with people in my office I can be found sailing the San Juan’s and the Gulf Islands in my beloved Pacific Northwest cruising grounds or in my kitchen where cooking is a passion and hobby.  While one could easily point out that my creative energies can be applied in helping my clients move from where they are to where they want to be, I like to expand my creativity to areas cullinary. Cooking for me tuns into something soul satisfying for myself and my companions.
